Art - Watercolours

This week we started our new topic in Art - Watercolours. 

We looked at the artist Emma Burleigh and some of her work. We watched a video of her showing us how to use watercolour paints. 

We then experimented with the watercolours and had a go at some of the different techniques- using the side of the brush, the tip of the brush, splattering the paint and using water on the page before paint. 

Everyone really enjoyed using the watercolours and produced some excellent art work.

Science - Comparing materials

This week in Science we compared some materials. We were tying to work out which were the most absorbent. We tested paper, sponge, tissue and cloth. Before our experiment the children made good predictions and tried to explain why they thought that material would be the most absorbent.  We then put the materials in pots of water and left them for two minutes. We took them out to see which pot had the least amount of water in them. Some children were surprised to find out that the tissue was the most absorbent.
