Science - Smelling experiment

Today in Science we continued to think about our senses. We were thinking about our sense of smell. 

We smelt five different things; garlic, coffee, oranges, black pepper and mint. The children then had to decide which item had the strongest smell and which had the weakest smell. 

Some of the children liked the things they smelt but some didn’t!

Science - Comparing materials

This week in Science we compared some materials. We were tying to work out which were the most absorbent. We tested paper, sponge, tissue and cloth. Before our experiment the children made good predictions and tried to explain why they thought that material would be the most absorbent.  We then put the materials in pots of water and left them for two minutes. We took them out to see which pot had the least amount of water in them. Some children were surprised to find out that the tissue was the most absorbent.
