PSHE - Favourite fruits

Today in PSHE we continued to think about keeping healthy and spoke about healthy eating. We discussed how important it is to eat lots of fruit and vegetables. The children then made bar charts and went around the class to ask each other what their favourite fruits are. 

Making boats

 Today in our outside area, Mrs Michael set the children a challenge to make a boat that floats. The children used foam tubes and cocktail sticks to make their boats. Some chose to add sails. Some children worked out how to add stabilisers to their boats to make them float.  The children had great fun making and testing their boats!

Science - Wild plants

 Today we continued to look at plants in our Science lesson. We looked at some wild flowers and discussed how some are planted by humans and some grow wild without humans.  We looked at some common wild flowers and had a go at naming them and drawing them. 

PSHE - Being healthy

 This week in PSHE we looked at how we can keep healthy.  The children and some amazing ideas and talked about eating healthy and eating lots of fruit and veg. We spoke about sleep and how getting enough sleep is good for us. We spoke about keeping clean and brushing our teeth. We then talked about exercise and sports that can keep us healthy.  The children drew their own mind maps to show ways they can stay healthy. 

Art - Drawing Birds

Today we started our new topic- Sculpture and birds.  We looked at some videos of different birds and looked at the shapes, sizes, patterns and texture.  We looked at lots of photographs of birds and had a go at drawing different parts of birds. Trying really hard to get the right shape and patterns. 

Geography - United Kingdom

Today we started our new topic in Geography - The United Kingdom.  We looked at different maps of the World and looked at google Earth and globes.  We found where the United Kingdom is on our world maps.  We then zoomed in and tried to find the Isle of Wight on the UK maps.  We were all surprised to see how small our island is compared to the rest of the world!

PSHE- Not sharing personal information online

Today in PSHE we spoke about what it means to go online.  We discussed how we should not share personal information online. We looked at different types of personal information and discussed whether we thought it was safe or not  to share online. We then discussed who are 3 safe adults are that we can talk to if we are unsure about information we want to share. 

Beech Class - Outside play

Beech class enjoyed exploring our updated outside area yesterday. Thank you Mrs Michael and Miss Wykes for making it such an exciting area for the children to play in.
