English Hook - Message in a bottle

Today we received a special video from the coastguard who had found a message in a bottle. 

The letter was from a lonely penguin who wanted to be friends with us. 

The children were very excited to receive this letter and decided to write their own  letters back to him.

Science - Comparing materials

This week in Science we compared some materials. We were tying to work out which were the most absorbent. We tested paper, sponge, tissue and cloth. Before our experiment the children made good predictions and tried to explain why they thought that material would be the most absorbent.  We then put the materials in pots of water and left them for two minutes. We took them out to see which pot had the least amount of water in them. Some children were surprised to find out that the tissue was the most absorbent.
