Making boats

 Today in our outside area, Mrs Michael set the children a challenge to make a boat that floats. The children used foam tubes and cocktail sticks to make their boats. Some chose to add sails. Some children worked out how to add stabilisers to their boats to make them float. 

The children had great fun making and testing their boats!

Science - Comparing materials

This week in Science we compared some materials. We were tying to work out which were the most absorbent. We tested paper, sponge, tissue and cloth. Before our experiment the children made good predictions and tried to explain why they thought that material would be the most absorbent.  We then put the materials in pots of water and left them for two minutes. We took them out to see which pot had the least amount of water in them. Some children were surprised to find out that the tissue was the most absorbent.
